    Description

    This course is designed to introduce students to the foundations of economic thought, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and personal finance. Students will analyze how consumer spending and national policy affect the economy. Topics will include supply and demand, market economy, opportunity cost, spending and credit, Federal Reserve, and capitalism as compared to other economic systems. Students will learn savings and investing strategies pertaining to stocks and bonds, mutual funds, 401K’s and other aspects of personal investing. Students will take the MOPFA (Missouri Personal Finance Assessment) as a part of the course requirements.

This unit focuses on basic economic concept pieces.
Students will be able to apply basic economic concepts to the real world situations.
EPF02Supply and Demand
This unit focuses on the interaction of Supply and Demand in specific markets.
Students will be able to demonstrate changes in Supply and Demand graphically.
EPF03Costs and Competition
This unit focuses on the decision making of firms as well as the competition structures within the marketplace.
Students will able to determine costs, profit, and discuss the benefits of competition.
EPF04Money and Banking
This unit focuses on the functions of money, our banking system and the Federal Reserve.
Students will be able to recognize the role that the Federal Reserve plays in the economy.
EPF05Measures of Economic Performance
This unit focuses on different measures of
macro-economic performance as well as government involvement
in the economy.
Students will be able to recognize the role that the government
plays in the economy.
