    Description
    This is a large choral ensemble that performs intermediate and advancing literature. Students will display musical understanding through written and performance activities. This ensemble will perform standard 4- part literature for mixed voices [SATB] in a variety of musical styles.
    Expected Outcomes:


    • Demonstrate vocal performance techniques as it relates to posture, breathing, vocal production, tone, diction, articulation.
    • Sight-read grade level appropriate choral literature in various styles alone and with others.
    • Interpret and perform music using expression such as dynamics, phrasing and style.
    • Demonstrate technical proficiency as it relates to rhythm, note accuracy, key signatures, time signatures and tempo.

Interpreting the elements of music and the composer’s intent contributes to the process of mastering a skill, and influences the emotional response from the performer and the listener.
CCHOR02Performing
Performance experiences are critical to the development of musicians. Vocal performance skills encompass the tools needed to master, interpret, and produce a musical work. Ensemble performance skills are acquired when students rehearse and study music in preparation for culminating performances. These performance experiences are critical to the development of musicians.
CCHOR03Creating
Students will generalize, develop and refine musical ideas to create musical examples.
CCHOR04Connecting
Music is not created in a vacuum; it has been created and performed by musicians deeply embedded and influenced by their culture and times and relates to other subjects in many different ways. Students will develop an understanding for historical and cultural significances and connections with other subjects that are critical to their growth as musicians.
