    Description
    This course is designed for students who wish to explore the world of classical mythology.  It begins by acquainting them with the nature of myth or the traditional stories by which a people define their world and affirm its shared values.  Students will explore some methods by which these tales can be interpreted.  Finally, students will meet those gods and heroes through original authors in translation and visual depictions from ancient artwork.  This course is reading and writing intensive. The focus is on Greek and Roman mythology, but other traditions may be studied.

    Note: This curriculum was written prior to the 2014-2015 school year. It is scheduled to be rewritten following the Rockwood Curriculum Schedule.
